G. Marc Turner was promoted to Associate Vice President and Chief Data & Analytics officer in September 2025. He previously served in the Data, Analytics, and Institutional Research office as a Research Analyst (2013-2018), Senior Research Analyst (2018-2020), Director of Institutional Research (2020), and Assistant Vice-President for Data, Analytics, and Institutional Research (2020-2025). Prior to working in Data, Analytics, and Institutional Research, he served as a faculty member in the Department of Psychology from 1996 to 2013. In his current role he leads institutional data and analytics strategy and coordinates efforts to assist administrators in making data informed decisions. This includes overseeing data governance, data management, internal analytics, benchmarking, and reporting at the state, regional, and federal levels. He also leads efforts to make data more accessible to the university community through common data resources and visualizations. 

Marc currently chairs the Texas State Data Management Council and serves on multiple other campus councils, committees, and taskforces. He also serves as the primary Texas State University representative on the Texas State University System IR Council and Data Management Council.

Marc is an active member of the Texas Association for Institutional Research (TAIR). He served a three-year term as Vice-President/President/Past-President of the organization from 2019-2021, the Professional Development Officer (2016-2018), and as a member of the TAIR Conference Planning Committee for multiple years. Marc also served as the Member-at-Large for Professional Development for the Southern Association for Institutional Research (SAIR) for 2022-2024, Member-at-Large for Sponsor Relations from 2019-2021, and on the SAIR nominating committee in 2022. At the national level, he maintains membership in the national Association for Institutional Research (AIR), EDUCAUSE, Higher Education Data World (HEDW), and National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). Marc strongly values the benefits of continued professional development and frequently presents workshops and other sessions at state, regional, and national conferences.

Marc earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a focus on Quantitative and Psychometric Methods from the University of Texas (2004), a M.Ed. in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas (1998), and a B.S. in Psychology from Texas State University (1995).
